Educational Philosophy and Goals

Circle Nursery strives to provide a developmentally appropriate pre-school experience for three, four and five year old children in a friendly, nurturing environment. The children of Circle Nursery School have numerous opportunities to explore art, music, verbal expression, stories, creative dramatics, games and finger plays as well as pre-kindergarten skills such as letter and number identification. The program is especially designed to enable children to grow to their fullest potential. The most important function of Circle Nursery School is socialization.

About Our Teachers

It is the belief of the Board of Directors of CNS that the quality of the staff is the most important element of a good education.  Our Teacher Director is Julie Shutt and our Teaching Assistant is Karyl Avino.

Julie has been with CNS for one year.  She lives in Dansville with her husband Aaron.  Julie is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College with a Bachelor's Degree in Inclusive Childhood Education.  She received her Master's Degree in Literacy and holds Early Childhood and Reading teacher certifications.  Mrs. Shutt has also been a substiture teacher for several years, while attending college, including two long term positions at Livonia Central School.  In her community, July teaches church school and is the director of the Vacation Bible School.

Karyl Avino has been with CNS for five years.  She is a life long resident of Avon and the mother of three children. She worked as a Teacher's Assistant at Avon Primary School before coming to Circle Nursery School.

Parental Involvement

Parents are welcome and encouraged to help in the classroom for special events and holiday parties. Many parents look forward to joining their child's class on field trips.

Parental communication is a priority. Monthly newsletter and snack calendars are provided A classroom events update is sent home weekly. We welcome calls and questions at any time. Two fundraisers are planned each school year to offset the cost of tuition. Participation in fundraising events is strictly voluntary. Fund raising is not a requirement of Circle Nursery School.
